Shaw Springs
Location of Shaw Springs in British Columbia

Shaw Springs is a privately owned settlement originally homesteaded by Mr. and Mrs. William Hugh and Rose Shaw in the late 1920s. The Shaws purchased the rights to the fresh water Spring on the river right some time around 1930 and established Shaw Springs Resort. A suspended pipeline across the river was built and the water was pumped over to the river left to irrigate the gardens and provide fresh drinking water. The site was first developed in the 1880s by the CPR as a camp for the workers during the construction of the rail lines. Many small buildings were erected on the site to house the men and were later renovated into cabins and became part of the resort the Shaws developed. The Canadian Pacific Railway named this stop Drynoch, as well, the Trans Canada Highway also slices a ribbon through the now 38 acre parcel sustaining three working hay fields. The Shaw family owned the property for a little more than 50 years and sold it to the current owners in the 1980s. The buildings have benefited from extensive renovations and expansion at the hand of the current owner and there are atill a few of the original cabins in use. Today a great grand daughter of William and Rose Shaw operates the restaurant and RV park that has been open for over 80 years.
